Construction Site

The Evolution of the Rubble Pile

Even though it has been a bit quiet around here lately, we certainly haven’t been idle over the past few weeks. Almost every day, we’ve been working on the construction site to ensure that progress continues. One component that has been a constant companion for over a year is the construction debris. Over time, a significant amount of material has accumulated, along with a small photo series that we have titled “The Evolution of the Rubble Pile.”

One of the things that always occurs during a renovation is construction debris. Since our “we are renovating the house” has now turned into “we are completely gutting it and rebuilding everything except for the exterior walls,” a lot of it is naturally generated. However, even we are repeatedly amazed at how much there actually ends up being.

We have gathered a few pictures here showing the evolution of our rubble pile. Of course, over the past few months, numerous containers and trailers filled with construction debris, mixed construction waste, wood, and trash have been hauled away and disposed of. Consequently, our “pile” has changed time and again. By the way, our scrap metal was regularly stolen at night…

The Evolution of the Rubble Pile

It truly can be seen as the evolution of the rubble pile. As it is repeatedly hauled away and disposed of, it changes its “face” almost daily. It grows and shrinks, constantly changing its composition.

For now, it’s done: the pile has been completely disposed of! Neatly separated by material, it was delivered to the respective specialized waste management companies. Here you can see Michael after the final sorting action. He is pushing the last of the construction debris into a pile on the premises of the company NARU-BAU.

So far, we have disposed of over 150 tons (150,000 kg) of construction debris and mixed construction waste from the house and the property. At this point, a big THANK YOU goes to the companies PEINE from Bad Arolsen (professional disposal of construction waste), TIEDE (containers for debris, green waste, and trash), and GROSS (disposal of metals) from Korbach, as well as the company NARU-BAU (disposal of all materials, use of machinery/equipment, containers for trash, debris, waste, and excavation). They supported us in the professional disposal of the various types of waste and materials.

Now that the construction debris has been removed from the property, work can also proceed in front of the garage. You will find out how in one of our next posts.
