Literary Spring 2026

Nowhere else can you experience the stars of the German-speaking literary scene as closely as at the Literary Spring in the homeland of the Brothers Grimm. In 2026, spring in North Hesse will once again begin with a journey into the world of literature – and Overlook Lodge in Kellerwald is your perfect accommodation for this special event.

From March 20 to 29, 2026, a diverse festival program awaits you, featuring over two dozen readings, discussions, and recitations. The organizers – three hotels in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district – deliberately scheduled the opening for the day of the astronomical start of spring. Supported by more than 30 regional partners, the festival offers a unique combination of literature, landscape, and hospitality.

Festival director Christiane Kohl, herself a writer and journalist, once again announces prominent authors who will appear in North Hesse. The goal, she states, is to capture what moves people – and to provide them with guidance. Proven highlights include the gourmet dinners by Michelin-starred chef Erik Arnecke on the first Sunday and Monday, as well as the literary revue with actor Michael Quast in a former cowshed.
