Overlook Lodge is Now a Tree Sponsor
A Strong Commitment to Our Forest in North Hesse
Overlook Lodge is Now a Tree Sponsor
Overlook Lodge makes a visible commitment to regional climate protection: Effective immediately, we are supporting the reforestation initiative of W. & L. Jordan GmbH and the affiliated W. & L. Jordan Foundation as a “tree sponsor”.
What particularly excites us: The principle of the campaign is simple, transparent, and highly effective – because for every tree donated, Jordan plants another one. Thus, a small contribution has a double impact, right here in our home region.
The forests of North Hesse have suffered noticeably in recent years. Storms, long dry periods, and massive bark beetle infestations have left barren areas in many places. This is precisely where the “Tree Sponsor” campaign comes in. The goal is to establish a resilient mixed forest that will remain a healthy habitat for future generations. An experienced forester selects the tree species – depending on the location, the team plants species such as oak, beech, Douglas fir, sycamore maple, or coastal fir, which can better withstand the demands of climate change.
As an accommodation deeply connected to the nature around Edersee, Kellerwald, and the heights of the Waldeck region, it was a logical step for us to become part of this project. Our guests experience nature firsthand: while hiking, cycling, by the lake, or simply by looking out the window. The fact that we can now actively contribute to reforestation strengthens this idea and gives back a piece to the region that makes our house so special.
Another reason for our decision was the strong regional focus of the initiative. The donated trees are planted in North Hesse – precisely where our guests also enjoy the beauty of the forest. Trained foresters take care of the trees, regularly monitoring the growth of the young saplings. Thus, the sponsorship does not end with planting a seedling, but accompanies the tree’s long development path towards stable, climate-resilient forests.
W. & L. Jordan GmbH documents the progress in its own “Tree Blog” – from planting campaigns with schools to international collaborations and reports from the forest. This allows supporters to track at any time what their donation achieves and how the forest areas are gradually recovering. For us, this is an ideal way to regularly involve our guests as well.
If you would like to become a “tree sponsor” yourself, you can start with just five trees – Jordan automatically doubles your contribution. The ordering process is deliberately kept low-threshold: In the “Tree Shop”, you select the desired quantity, and the foundation and forestry team take care of everything else.
Sustainability is Not a Buzzword
For us at Overlook Lodge, sustainability is not a buzzword, but a commitment. We want to not only offer a relaxing vacation spot but also protect the landscape that makes it so unique in the long term. With our own tree sponsorship, we are making an active contribution – and invite all guests and friends of the region to join us. Because every tree counts, every tree offers a future, and together we can make our forests strong again.
If you would like to learn more about the campaign or make a contribution yourself, you can find further information directly on the initiative’s website under “What is a Tree Sponsor” or in the “Tree Shop”.
We look forward to walking this path together – for a healthy forest, a stable climate, and a livable home for tomorrow.
