Edersee Wildlife Park

A visit to the Edersee Wildlife Park is more than just a trip – it is a true nature experience in the heart of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park. Across approximately 130 acres, you will encounter nearly 250 animals from 21 different species. Whether it is red deer, wolves, eagle owls, or the rare garden dormouse – the diversity of our native wildlife is impressively displayed here. Since its founding in 1970, the park has steadily evolved: the initial 14 animals have grown into a vibrant wilderness that delights visitors of all ages.

The spacious, naturally designed enclosures invite you to observe the animals in peace and gain fascinating insights into their behavior. The falconry center with its flight demonstrations is particularly impressive: on the barrier-free observation platform, you can experience falcons, kites, owls, eagle owls, and vultures in free flight – sometimes so close that you can feel the wind from their wings. In addition, the view over Lake Edersee and up to Waldeck Castle provides a backdrop you will never forget.

The Edersee Wildlife Park is an experience for everyone. Accessibility is a top priority: a 1.5-mile circular path is accessible by wheelchair or via a free-to-rent electric scooter. The BuchenHaus at the entrance sets the stage for the beech forest wilderness with an interactive exhibition. Families will enjoy the large adventure playground right next to the BuchenHaus and the Bericher Hütte, where regional specialties invite you to linger.
