Name and Logo of the Overlook Lodge
From the view to the idea
Origin of the Name and Logo
The name of our vacation home is the result of a special moment during the construction phase. During a break, we looked out from the property across the valley into the woods and said to ourselves: “You really have a great overview from here.” The name Overlook Lodge was born from this thought. The word “Overlook” describes the location of our vacation home perfectly.
However, the name is also a small homage to the famous book and film classic The Shining. The “Overlook Hotel” in the film is a place full of atmosphere and secrets. Our lodge is, of course, a place of relaxation and coziness, but we wanted to capture a piece of that special ambiance. Those familiar with the film will discover thoughtful details throughout the Overlook Lodge: subtle hints and decorations that recall the cult story and are distributed throughout the house. Of course, a copy of the Stephen King book “The Shining” can also be found on our shelves.
And what does our logo mean?
The Overlook Lodge logo is more than just lettering. It consists of three central elements:
- The name “Overlook Lodge” – clear and concise, as the core of our identity.
- The founding year – a reference to the start of the construction phase and the history of our house’s creation.
- The graphic symbol – a stylized combination of a house and a labyrinth, which simultaneously resembles a tree. This element represents the forests of the Kellerwald that surround our lodge, and the connection between nature, architecture, and a touch of mystery.
Thus, our logo unites everything that defines the Overlook Lodge: a connection to nature, a clear structure, and a special story. It is a symbol of our consistent brand identity and the vacation experience we wish to offer our guests – stylish, unique, and full of character.
We look forward to sharing this story with you and hope that the name and logo mean as much to you as they do to us: views, inspiration, and a place to feel at home.
