Hiking in the Edersee Hiking Region
Imagine this: Hesse’s only National Park unfolds before you like a green fairy-tale book. Pristine forests, winding paths, and quiet lakes that catch the light like sparkling jewels – all this awaits you in one of Germany’s most fascinating low mountain landscapes.
In the nature park, you will encounter untouched wilderness and original beauty – a place where the thirst for adventure and romantic longing meet. Recognized as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, the Edersee Quality Hiking Region offers a paradise for explorers and romantics with a sense for the extraordinary.
A hike through the primeval forest is a small adventure rewarded with bizarre steep slopes, gnarled oaks, and breathtaking views. Panoramic trails lead you past castles and former monasteries or around the 27 km long Lake Edersee. For long-distance hikers and experienced outdoor enthusiasts, challenging hiking events offer a special thrill.

In the heart of the World Natural Heritage
In the midst of one of Germany’s most beautiful and diverse low mountain landscapes – honored as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site – a hiking paradise awaits you, inviting you to wonder and discover. Since 2023, the Edersee region has proudly held the “Quality Region Wanderbares Deutschland” seal, offering you an impressive variety of hiking opportunities.
16 charming quality tours and the multi-day adventure trails Urwaldsteig, Lichtenfelser Panoramaweg, and Kellerwaldsteig lead you through picturesque valleys, mystical forests, and over heights with spectacular views.
The area of the quality region fully coincides with the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature and National Park and extends over more than 2,000 km of hiking trails. Here you will encounter ancient beech stands, rare flora, and a nature that tells stories – of silence, strength, and connection.

At Lake Edersee, the nature adventure begins even for the little ones – because here, hiking becomes a shared experience full of fun, wonder, and learning. Families enjoy the gentle circular path along the lakeshore or accompany a ranger who brings life in the forest to life with exciting stories.
With Eddi’s Edersee Adventure Tour, Germany’s first certified family hiking trail was created – a lovingly designed short hiking trail that ideally complements the existing routes of the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature and National Park (UNESCO World Natural Heritage).
The 4.8 km long main route offers hiking fun, nature experiences, and playful knowledge transfer – perfectly tailored to curious children and their accompanying adventurers. At 13 interactive play stations, explorers of all ages can discover the world of ancient beeches, learn through play, and collect unforgettable family moments.
This is how hiking becomes a shared journey – with ease, imagination, and the feeling of being right in the middle of nature.

Lichtenfelser Panoramaweg
“Back to the roots” – spending the night under the open sky is as primal as humanity itself. Today, this simple, authentic nature experience is undergoing a renaissance – and invites you to a conscious retreat into the wilderness on the Lichtenfelser Panoramaweg.
Imagine this: A night under the canopy of stars, the gentle rustling of the forest, the cool, clear air, and in the morning a sunrise that feels like an embrace. For many hikers, such moments are the heart of a true nature adventure.
Along the 69.5 km long route, the first three trekking sites of the Edersee Quality Hiking Region were established – ideally positioned at the end of each day’s stage. Each site offers you a covered rest area with a table and benches as well as a compost toilet, so you can linger consciously and close to nature – without sacrificing comfort.
In this way, the journey becomes the destination: encounters with nature, with oneself, and with a hiking culture that once again allows more space for peace, simplicity, and authenticity.

An electric boot dryer is available for your use in our vacation home. An efficient drying device for up to four pairs of shoes at the same time. The integrated warm air function ensures even and gentle drying of wet or damp footwear.
